Our Dead Sea Salts are gathered from the Dead Sea and are hand-picked, washed and dried before the granules are sieved and separated according to their various sizes. The Dead Sea is renowned for its health benefits due to the high mineral content of the water along with very few pollens and allergens in the atmosphere.
Here at Lucy Bee, we believe that to have the happiest, healthiest body possible, you need to both cherish and pamper yourself.
You see, while nourishing foods can make us stronger, leaner and fitter, we need to make time for our body, too. Taking half an hour out of our hectic, day-to-day life to really spoil ourselves can soothe away stresses, helping us to feel relaxed and at peace.
Thankfully, our latest product to the Lucy Bee range – our very own Dead Sea Salts – are perfect at calming, and may help even the most stressful of days end in a tranquil treat.
Taken from the Dead Sea - a salt lake - Dead Sea Salts have seen tourists flocking to the area for centuries, thanks to their therapeutic effects.
In fact, two thousand years ago, the Roman historian Flavius wrote that the salts from the Dead Sea heal the human body, saying: “The Dead Sea cannot be praised too highly. Travellers take this salt home because it heals the human body and is therefore used in many medicines."
The salt’s remarkable history doesn’t end there – the Greek physician Galenus praised the salts for treating arthritis, eczema, muscular pain, rheumatism, psoriasis and also to relieve tension and give silky smooth skin. Legend also has it that King Solomon presented the Queen of Sheba with Dead Sea salts upon her visit to the Holy Land, while once upon a time, the ancient Egyptians would even make pilgrimages there to boost their health and wellbeing.
So, what makes these salts special? Are they really any different to just your standard sea salt?
Well, yes, actually, they are! Amazingly, the water in the Dead Sea contains 29% salt (most seas only have 4%), which means that you can even float across the water. The salts found here are also special since 12% of Dead Sea salt is sodium chloride – a massive 85% of the salt in normal seawater is sodium chloride.
The salts found in the Dead Sea are truly unique and contain 27% of various salts (your bog-standard sea water has just 3%). Many sea salts are also mainly made up of sodium, yet Dead Sea Salts have far less. Instead, the balance of the salts in the water found here also contain essential minerals and elements , including magnesium, potassium, calcium chloride and bromides.
Made from water evaporation, our Dead Sea Salts are hand-picked from the sea, before being washed and dried. The granules will then get sieved and separated according to their various sizes.
Incredibly, the rich mineral content of the Dead Sea means that the salts can be used in all different ways – they’re not just for foods! The salts produced can include:
Crude Pan Salt, made from magnesium and calcium chlorides, which is often used to grit roads and can also be used as an animal food additive.
Potash, a fertilizer rich in potassium chloride. Magnesium Chloride, which is often used in sewage treatment and sugar refining.
Potassium Chloride, which is used to produce carageenan and gelatin, as well as in electroplating and in pharmaceutical products.
Beauty salts, which are found in luxury spas and bathrooms across the globe. Containing 33% salt, these salts are high in magnesium, potassium and calcium chloride.
Dead Sea salts are a beauty lover’s dream! Perfect for adding to baths, our favourite way to use the Lucy Bee Dead Sea Salts is for pampering. Simply add to hot water to enjoy these 100% natural minerals!
